Rana is also a visual effects co-ordinator and photographer. He made his acting debut with Telugu film "Leader" which earned him Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut South. He made his Bollywood debut with Dum Maaro Dum. Previously he also produced a film 'Bommalata a Belly Full of Dreams', which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu. In 2011, he was listed at number 20, on the Times of Indias Most Desirable Men. He was seen as Bhallala Deva in Baahubali 1 and is coming up with Baahubali 2. He is an Actor, Film producer, Visual Effects Co-ordinator, Model.

He was born on 14 December 1984, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, to Telugu film producer Daggubati Suresh Babu. His paternal grandfather was D. Ramanaidu, a famous film producer who was conferred with the third highest civilian award in the Republic of India, the Padma Bhushan, in recognition for his contribution to Telugu cinema. His paternal uncle Venkatesh and his cousin Naga Chaitanya are also actors in Telugu Cinema. He has completed his high school in Vengal Rao Nagar in Hyderabad. He has done his college education at Chennai Film School and graduated in Industrial Photography. During his education, he produced several documentaries and advertisement films in Chennai and Hyderabad for various brands. He has gained proficiency in various facets of film-making. His first release in 2012 was Naa Ishtam which was followed by his second Hindi film Department. He next starred in Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum directed by Krish which became a box office success.
