Shakthi Vasudevan was born on 23 February 1983. He is a Tamil film actor. He is the son of director P. Vasu and began his career in his father's films as a child artist. Sakthi got engaged to Smrithi, a B.Com graduate from Stella Maris College, Chennai. The engagement ceremony was held at a hotel in Chennai on June 5, 2011. The wedding took place on the 31 October 2011, in Mayor Ramanathan Hall in Chennai. Vasudevan was featured as a child artist in his father's successful Chinna Thambi in 1991, portraying the younger version of the character played by Prabhu. He went on to star in Nadigan featuring Sathyaraj.

In 2007, he returned in the lead role in Thottal Poo Malarum again directed by his father P. Vasu; however, the film was unsuccessful at the box-office. Since then he has featured in the romcom Mahesh Saranya Matrum Palar, another unsuccessful film. Vasudevan appeared in a supporting role in Ninaithale Inikkum where his role was appreciated by critics, and the film managed to break even.

He is currently acting in several films including Aattanayagan, Vanjikottai Vaaliban, Etho Seithai Ennai and Kallachiripazhaga. In his next film, due the end of September 2015, Vasudevan is due to return with a new screen name Sakthivel Vasu in Tharkappu.
