Sherin was born to Yasodha and Ali and she is a only child to her parents. She did her schooling from Kaveri School in Bengaluru and studied at Baldwin's Women's Methodist College, which she later discontinued. She started modeling in her teens and got the chance to act in her first film when she was only 16 years old. After that, she had offers to act in Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam movies. She shot to fame with her debut Tamil film Thulluvadho Ilamai. She also acted in Juniors, a Telugu remake of Thulluvadho Ilamai, but the film failed commercially. Later, in 2005, she acted in the film Danger directed by Krishna Vamsi; though the film received accolades, Sherin went unrecognized. Incidentally, in both the films she starred with Allari Naresh. She then starred in Student No. 1 where she played opposite debutant Sibi Raj. She was critically acclaimed for her performance in the film Whistle. She also appeared in the hit Malayalam film Moonnamathoral, and starring in Tamil film Urchagam. She also appeared in the film Bheema for a single song.
