About Me

He married actress Roja who starred in his films such as Chembaruthi, Raja Muthirai and Makkal Aatchi in 2001. R. K. Selvamani is now Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Directors association. He made his debut with the thriller Pulan Visaranai; based on an allegation by Auto Shankar that he had kidnapped many girls at the behest of some political bigwigs. This movie starring Vijaykanth was the biggest hit of 1990 in Tamil. It also fetched a state award for Sarath Kumar for his portrayal of the villain character. Roja Selvamani who debuted in his Chembaruthi acted in many of his hit films and later became his wife in 2001. In fact, he always stood by her during her most difficult times. He even mortgaged hi-s property in Chennai to bail out Roja from a cheque bounce case. He returned briefly to direct his partner Roja's 100th film, Durga, a Telugu language devotional subject. The film opened in 2001 to poor reviews, with a critic noting it "lacks the distinctive touch" of the director, the film was dubbed and released in Tamil as Pottu Amman with an additional comedy track involving Manivannan added for Tamil version.
