R. T. Neason was born on July 5, 1972. Bodinayakannur of Tamil Nadu is his native place. He did his schooling in Sainik School at Amaravathinagar. After completing graduation in commerce he joined Film and Television Institute of Madras at Adayar where he studied film direction and screenplay writing. After the completion of the course he worked as an assistant director of Tamil industry for a long time since late 1990s. He is a successful film director associated with Tamil film industry who directed the blockbuster hit of Vijay – Jilla in 2014. He also co-scripted 2011 film of Vijay - Velayudham. He made his directorial debut with 2007 Tamil film – Muruga, starring Ashok, Shruti Sharma and Samiksha. The movie received positive reviews and was a moderate success at box office.
He has worked as an assistant under many film directors like Vincent Selva for the movie - Iraniyan (1999), Udaya Shankar for Prematho Raa (2001), Thavasi (2001) and Ondagona Baa (2003) etc. He worked as an assistant director of the industry since late 1990s and has also worked as an assistant scriptwriter of Bhagyaraj. Film producer Ram Senthil gave him first opportunity as a film director. Thus 2007 movie Muruga marked his career as a full-fledged director of the industry. The movie starred the successful model Shruti Sharma playing the female lead opposite Ashok. However it was 2014 movie Jilla, which shot him to success. The movie was produced by R. B. Choudary.
