About Me

Bharathwaj was born into a Tamil Brahmin family and had his schooling and college education in Delhi. His father was a government official. Bharathwaj qualified as a Chartered Accountant before entering the domain of music. He studied Hindustani, carnatic and Western music at Delhi. At the age of 17, Bharathwaj made chances to make himself an ideal singer that he was fortuitously select to sing for programs in All India Radio and Doordarshan. Bharathwaj started his career as an auditor as he got graduated in Chartered accountancy. In the year 1986, Bharathwaj moved over to Chennai with a job in Ashok Leyland and worked with the company for a couple of years. Even before Bhardwaj entered the cine industry, he did compose for a few albums that were basically on Devotional songs called “Bhakti Cassettes”, jingles for many advertisements and also composed music for title songs of T.V Serials like “Vizhuthugal” and “Aalayam”. The first debut for Bharathwaj was from the telugu film industry where he gave his first musical influence in the first start. This start made him to get offers from 3 Kannada movies consecutively for this made him to quit his chartered accountant job in Chennai and made composing musical scores for movies. Next in his filmy queue was a Malayalam movie and after composing music for over 19 movies in these languages; Bharathwaj entered into the Tamil film industry in the year 1998, it was the movie Kadhal Mannan starring Ajith Kumar in the lead role wherein the film director was Charan. This movie was a musical hit. Since then Bharathwaj composed for more than 44 films in the Tollywood. Bharathwaj and Charan together worked in the films Amarkalam, Gemini, Paarthen Rasiathen and Jay Jay. All the songs of the 5 movies did well in the market and the duo has established a good rapport over the years. Some of the songs that Bharadwaj composed turned to be huge hits were Gemini, Khadal Mannan, Amarkalam, Pandavar Bhoomi, Roja Kootam, Vassol Raja MBBS, Priya Sakhi, Ayya, Attagasam, onbadu roobai nottu, Pallikoodam, Vallamai Thaarayo, Muni, Manja Velu and so on. His upcoming project is Aayirathil Iruvar.
