He has been associated with Rahman for a few Sufi albums and he has experience in Qawali for 2 years, before reaching film industry. Abhay is a bio-technologist who has completed the course from SRM University, Chennai. Rahman noticed him while singing for a sufi album and gave him the big break to film industry. The song, "Moongil Thottam" was a chartbuster.  In 2012, he has also recorded a few songs for Rahman’s Telugu movie, Godfather. He spends a lot of time listening to music and loves Rahman’s songs a lot.
