About Me

Shruthi Haasan is a daughter of notable actor Kamal Haasan and Sarika. She has a younger sister Akshara. Until her 10th grade, she studied at the Lady Andal in Chennai and moved to Mumbai to pursue psychology at St Andrew’s College. However, Haasan shifted her focus to cinema and music, and before returning to Chennai, she travelled to the USA to continue to learn music at the Musicians Institute in California. At age 6, she started singing in her father's Thevar Magan composed by Ilaiyaraaja. At the time of schooling, she made her singing debut in the Hindi language film, Chachi 420, next in Hey Ram film, both in Tamil and Hindi and her career goes on. After much speculation, Shruti Haasan was finalized as the music composer of the Tamil film Unnaipol Oruvan, which was released in 2009. Shruti Haasan sang her first song aged just six in her father's Thevar Magan in the composition of Ilaiyaraaja. While in school, Haasan made her singing debut in the Hindi language film, Chachi 420, singing a duet with her father who also directed the film.
